The challenges for restaurateurs in Melbourne

Hosted by:

May 8, 2018 @ 10:30 pm - May 9, 2018 @ 12:00 am

Melbourne is the home of the most delightful food scene; we are spoiled for choice for any and every dining experience. But with our food supply facing challenges from the impacts of climate change, the ever-increasing cost of food and overheads, competition with delivery companies such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats which encourage people to stay at home, a lack of quality education and staff, and issues such as food waste and recycling, will this hive of activity last?

Mykal Bartholomew, together with his wife Kate, own 3 restaurants in the heart of the city’s most dynamic culinary precinct –  Tonka, Ôter and Coda. Throughout his career, Mykal has witnessed – and been on the forefront – of the vast changes in industry. With the challenges ahead, where is the Melbourne dining scene headed in 2018 and beyond?
