Cheese, wine and history – a night at the Museum

Hosted by:

September 7, 2018 @ 3:30 am - 5:00 am

Join other Melbourne Forum members and their guests as the sun goes down and the doors close on the Old Treasury Building, with a glass of wine and some nibbles from 5:30pm – 6:00pm, then the private tour from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.

Melbourne was founded on August 30 when settlers landed on the north bank of the Yarra River from the schooner Enterprize in 1835, but did you remember that Melbourne had many unofficial names in its first years, including Batmania, Barebrass, Bearport, Dutergalla, Bareheep and most popularly “the Settlement”?

This private tour is designed to remind you of our proud Melbourne history. We are invited to see areas of the building inaccessible to the general public, including the Executive Council Chamber, the historic room is where the Governor of Victoria has met for over 150 years to sign legislation into law, and rare and exciting insiders glimpse of the early beginnings of the colony of Melbourne and offers an insight into the life of Melbournians from the 1840s to 1870s.

Obviously something this special has limited numbers, so book quickly!
