Ready To Disrupt: Gen Z Demands Sustainability

Gen Z and Millennials together make up ‘’the most disruptive generation ever” and as 40% of the Australian population, this cohort aged 13-42, will have a defining impact on our future in the decades ahead.

Confident, informed and influencing other generations as employees, consumers, voters, and investors, they demand equity, inclusion, diversity and transparency in how things are done, and evidence of sustainability in products and services.

Big brands are already responding as Adidas and Allbirds launch a low carbon footprint running shoe and Walmart is selling pre-owned fashion brands.

This generational block believes their actions not only can make a difference but must make a difference to ensure they have a future.

The are a force ready to disrupt.

They are digital natives and use social media to create communities, mobilize action and expose poor practices.

They don’t trust organisations’ claims and call out greenwashing.

They don’t trust political parties and engage in issues activism.

Katherine Ellis will draw on her experience as CEO at Youth Affairs Council Victoria and her involvement on youth issues at a global level for over a decade, to facilitate a discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing organisations to address this generational tsunami.

This Sustainability Leadership Forum brings together those interested in sharing perspectives and exploring key issues with fellow members.
