The Greg Lynn verdict: a jury compromise or a jury inspired?

Prof Ian Dunn AM

July 31 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

$85.00 – $95.00

Greg Lynn, a former Jetstar pilot, was tried for the murders of Russell Hill and Carol Clay, who went missing in the Wonnangatta Valley in March 2020. Lynn pleaded not guilty, maintaining that the deaths were accidental. He claimed that an altercation with Hill over drone footage led to Hill taking Lynn’s shotgun, resulting in a struggle during which Clay was fatally shot. Hill then allegedly attacked Lynn with a knife, leading to Hill’s death during a subsequent struggle. Lynn admitted to disposing of the bodies and burning the campsite to avoid blame.

The prosecution argued that Lynn murdered the couple and engaged in an elaborate cover-up.

The jury ultimately found Lynn guilty of murdering Clay but acquitted him of Hill’s murder.
