Improving Public Governance in Victoria
Opening event for 2023 with John Pesutto, Leader of the Opposition
Hosted by:
John Ridley AM
February 15, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
$55.00 – $60Join Melbourne Forum members and friends to our first cocktail party style event for 2023, with special speaker, John Pesutto.
John Pesutto knows well what losing feels like – in November 2018, he found out he had lost his seat (Hawthorn) while discussing the election vote on television.
He is now back in his old seat by a narrow margin and is Leader of the Opposition.
With the primary vote for both major parties at an all time low, what is the path forward for the Opposition?
And given widespread concern about governance shortcomings, what can the Opposition do about that?
While out of the Parliament, John had a role with the School of Government at Melbourne University and his published articles in The Age often addressed this issue. His discussion with Melbourne Forum in 2019 was titled “Politics Today – Where are we going?”
John is one of seven children of an Italian migrant family. He is married (to Betty) and has three daughters.
