How might the Russo-Ukraine war end?

It is a great privilege that Richard Iron CMG OBE will guide this conversation for Melbourne Forum on the Russo-Ukraine war.

Richard Iron is the President of the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria. He was educated at the University of Cambridge in the UK and served for 37 years in the British Army, largely spent on operations in Northern Ireland, the Sultanate of Oman, the Falkland Islands, the Balkans and Iraq. In addition, he was an expert military witness in the Sierra Leone War Crimes trials, where he worked with ex-members of guerrilla groups.

Later, he was Defence Fellow at the University of Oxford, worked for the UK’s Chief of Defence Staff on developing the UK’s capacity to think and work strategically and was Chief Executive Officer for a London-based international consultancy.

He moved to Melbourne in late 2015. He continues to write and lecture widely on strategy, the Middle East, the Russo-Ukraine War and counter-insurgency. His current research topic is how wars end and he has recently published, with Damien Kingsbury, his latest book: How Wars End – theory and practice.

This informative discussion will ensure that members and guests are better informed on this critical and volatile geopolitical situation.
