June 13 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

This is our second visit to the Parkville Precinct – a powerhouse of public and private institutions and businesses of national and global significance.

WEHI is an extremely significant and prestigious institution in Parkville. Previously known as the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, it is Australia’s oldest medical research institute dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating diseases like cancer, infections and immune disorders. For over 100 years it has brought the world’s brightest scientists together to help solve some of the world’s most complex health issues, collaborating with hospitals, universities, research institutes, supporters, alumni and the community.

Millions of people around the world are living healthier lives because of WEHI’s medical discoveries.

Its achievements include developing Australia’s first snakebite antivenom, pioneering the flu vaccine technique in use today, discovering what triggers autoimmune diseases and pioneering the development of ‘immunosuppressive’ treatments for them, and developing revolutionary cancer treatment and a potent new treatment for leukaemia.

A tour tailor made for us will include meeting with researchers and hearing about current and future plans, all in the setting of a cleverly designed building.

This event is complimentary for members and guests.

For those interested, a booking will be made at nearby Naughtons Hotel for dinner afterwards at members’ own expense.
