FreeLIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION – A SPECIAL TOUR OF DOCKLANDS FILM STUDIOS
How lucky are we? This is a rare opportunity to tour the Docklands Film Studios.
Melbourne has long been the creative capital of Australia and is a global destination for film production. Docklands Film Studios has multiple stages, associated production offices and other facilities such as wardrobe, makeup and art department workshops. It also offers access to the city’s large pool of talent skilled in high-end domestic and international projects – including lighting, camera, drone, equipment hire, editing, VFX and post production specialists. Recently it became home to the world’s largest virtual production film making facility.
On top of all this, it is the first major film studio complex in Australia to be powered entirely by renewable energy.
It has been used for an array of Australian film, international film, domestic drama, audience-based shows and TV commercial production. The titles of many of these productions will be familiar to members.
Among productions secured this year are a blockbuster suburban thriller starring Sarah Snook, a Sony Pictures thriller, and a Netflix crime mystery. The Sarah Snook production alone is projected to pump $70 million into the Victorian economy.
Members may book for themselves and a maximum of 1 guest (members will be given priority if close to capacity).
For those interested, a booking will be made at a nearby venue for lunch afterwards at members’ own expense.
