Australian Open Tennis – Melbourne to the World
Hosted by:
October 14, 2016 @ 11:30 pm - October 15, 2016 @ 1:00 am
Members' Lunch with Craig Tiley, Chief Executive Officer, Tennis Australia and Director of Australian Open.
Tennis Australia is proud to promote the Australian Tennis Open 2017 with more than 700,000 spectators last year to Melbourne, across Australia and to the world. Over the past decade since Craig Tiley was named as Director of the Australian Open, the standing and recognition of the Open has allowed the tournament to be embraced by all players as the best of the Grand Slams. In 2013 Craig took over as CEO, while keeping Director of the Australian Open and has stamped his personality on the Open as well as promoting some of Australia’s more innovative participation programs and building the brand of tennis.
Craig began playing tennis at the age of 12 in Johannesburg and rose to be a professional player (1983-86) before enrolling in the Professional Tennis Management Program at Tyler Junior College in Texas. His coaching in the States also took him to Captain South African Davis Cup Team (1988-2001). Joining Tennis Australia in 2005, as Director of Player Development, he became Director of the Australian Open in 2006, before combining with the Chief Executive Officer after the previous CEO resigned.
Craig will speak about what he expects the 2017 Australian Open to look like after launching it earlier that week, as well as what to expect from Australia’s’ up and coming stars in January.
