Jazz at Montsalvat: Joe Chindamo Trio
A MF Cultural Life Series event
Professor Emeritus Barbara van Ernst AM
March 26 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm$57.00
‘He has more facility on the piano than you could ever wish for, his energy is boundless, he is forever inventive …’ – JAMES MORRISON
This is an opportunity to visit beautiful Montsalvat and to hear Joe Chindamo and his Trio. Joe is a musical polyglot, who is almost impossible to characterise. He is routinely described as one of the best jazz pianists in the world, though his art far transcends jazz. He has recorded 23 CDs, won a plethora of awards (inducted to the Bell Awards Hall of Fame in 2016), ARIAs and twice, the Mo Award for ‘Jazz Instrumental Performer of the Year’ and performed with the who’s who of myriad musical genres.
Take a drive to Montsalvat, Australia’s oldest continuously active artists’ community; a place where art in all its forms is made and taught, and art’s transformative power is celebrated in exhibitions, festivals, concerts, workshops and artists’ residencies.
Take your time enjoying the peace and pleasure in Montsalvat’s lovingly tended gardens, enjoy Montsalvat’s exhibitions, its restaurant and hospitality, and marvel at its complex of buildings that evoke a European past while exemplifying a very Australian trait of recycling and architectural inventiveness.
All proceeds from the concert, after paying the musicians, will go to the restoration of Lily’s Cottage, one of the original Montsalvat buildings.
