Members' Drinks with Associate Professor Vinay Rane

Hosted by:
Chris Gallagher

November 11, 2019 @ 5:15 am - 7:00 pm

$35

As an obstetrician and gynaecologist, Associate Professor Vinay Rane thinks he has the most wonderful job in the world. He must truly love it, because, despite the most amazing adventure, he came home.

In 2014, Vinay was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and, along with his young family, relocated to The United States, serving at the New York State Department of Health, The School of Public Health at Harvard University and The United Nations.  This scholarship took Vinay on one heck of a journey culminating at The White House where he had a front-row seat to the 2016 US Presidential Elections and the leadership of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Vinay is a doctor, lawyer and public health researcher. He practices high-risk obstetrics and keyhole surgery, specialising in the care of professional athletes, working women, and their families. He also serves as the Chair of Health and Sport for the Australian Indian Chamber of Commerce, and as a Patron of the Australian World Orchestra.

Vinay has received fellowships and awards from several Australian and overseas medical colleges and maintains a collaborative relationship with the Mayo Clinic and Harvard University in the US.

Come and join fellow members and guests and escape the winter chill, to hear about this very personal and remarkable story of how the little Indian kid from Glen Waverley looked through the political window to see a view of hope and optimism… and how that view may have changed in recent years. In order to share some of the more obscure and untold secrets of Washington’s inner workings, members are reminded of the strict enforcement of the Chatham House Rule.
