Australia’s position in an increasingly complex world

- Members' Drinks with Craig Emerson and Tom Switzer

Hosted by:
Antony Walker

November 28, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

$35.00

Our final event for 2019 is a special event where a smorgasbord of global and domestic issues will be discussed by two of the country’s leading public intellectuals.

Craig Emerson is a former Minister for Trade in the Julia Gillard government among other high-profile political roles and Tom Switzer is Executive Director of the influential Centre for Independent Studies.

They will attempt to make sense of the increasingly complex world in which we find ourselves.

Among topics on the agenda will be China, relations with the United States, how Australia might navigate a US-China trade war and climate change.

This will be a free-wheeling discussion involving two authorities whose views will not always coincide. Ample time will be set aside for questions and discussion. Dual Walkley Award winner Tony Walker will moderate this event.

This stimulating event will be the last opportunity in 2019 for members to bring a guest – particularly those who may be interested in joining the Melbourne Forum.
