Hosted by:
March 23, 2017 @ 11:30 pm - March 24, 2017 @ 1:00 am
Members' Lunch with Dr Meredith Doig
"The principle of secularism is one of the greatest developments in human rights in the world. We must safeguard and protect it, for it can come under threat in contemporary Australia." – Dr Meredith Doig, President, Rationalist Society of Australia.
The Rationalist Society of Australia is the oldest freethought group in Australia.
Rationalists hold that all significant beliefs and actions should be based on reason and evidence, that the natural world is the only world there is, and that answers to the key questions of human existence are to be found only in that natural world.
Meredith’s career spans 10 years in education and research, three years overseas, and 15 years as a corporate executive in manufacturing (Ford Australia), mining (Rio Tinto) and banking (ANZ), followed by 10 years in consulting.
Meredith has also been a long-time community activist, lobbying on issues ranging from tax and industry development, to social equity and corporate governance.
