Kate Jenkins was appointed as the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner in 2013.
Kate brings 20 years' experience as a lawyer and prior to this role was the lead partner of Herbert Smith Freehills' Australian discrimination, equal opportunity and training practice. Kate has worked in many areas of law, with a focus on workplace relations and assisting employers to create fair and diverse workplaces. Kate held leadership roles in the firm's diversity program, pro bono legal services and recruitment team.
Kate is the Vice President of the Board of Berry Street Victoria – the state's largest independent child and family welfare organisation. She is also a member of the Board of Heide Museum of Modern Art. Kate holds honours degrees in Law and Arts.
