Dr Denis Napthine was born in Geelong and raised on the family farm at Winchelsea.
Denis is a graduate of the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Masters of Veterinary Studies (Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine). He also a Masters of Business Administration from Deakin University.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne, Denis had a distinguished career as a Veterinarian in Hamilton, in Western Victoria.
In 1988 he was elected to the Victorian State Parliament.
During his 27 year career in Parliament, he served as the Premier of Victoria, (5 March 2013 to 29 November 2014) as Minister for Regional Cities, Racing, Youth & Community Services, Ports and Major Projects.
Since retiring from Parliament, Denis has taken on several community roles, including being Patron of Solve and an Ambassador for Standing Tall in Warrnambool.
