SPORTING INSIGHTS: Is Australia s sporting prowess in question?

Members Lunch with Adrian Anderson

Hosted by:

March 31, 2017 @ 11:30 pm - April 1, 2017 @ 1:00 am

Australia's sporting prowess is embedded into our national psyche but its integrity has been under a cloud.

In recent years, local and global scandals have forced Aussie sporting bodies to look again at their own integrity regulations – due to dubious management practices, results tainted by illegal substances, betting scandals, and more. Are we now losing confidence in Sports power to inspire?

Adrian Anderson has been involved with the AFL and other sporting bodies in guiding them to develop best practice. Formerly a sports and media lawyer at Corrs, he overhauled the AFL tribunal system, introduced its Illicit drugs policy, set up the AFL Integrity Unit, and negotiated free agency and a CBA with the AFLPA.  He was appointed Interim CEO at Cycling Australia in 2013 and completed an integrity review for Cycling Australia.  Adrian is now a barrister, specialising in sports and media law, including running a GRNSW inquiry into unauthorised exports of greyhounds to Macau and China.

He will share some of the global learnings that have made him an expert person to help maintain Australia's own sports integrity.
