Video Killed the Radio Star / Autonomy Killed the Family Car

Hosted by:

August 9, 2018 - August 10, 2018

Due to the size of the Australian population and domestic market as well as the demise of the Australian automotive industry, this country is generally the recipient of advanced technologies.  It is no different with autonomous transport technologies and as a result the best and most advanced examples of what is happening are in Europe, North America and recently in China.

í¢ä‰åäó_But how will this disruption affect Melbourne? Obviously, driver-less vehicles will use data, can there be a breach of cyber-security and privacy issues? Will these vehicles be using car parks, or will they just circle the city until they are required again? How will we view public transport? How will our job market be affected in the long run? Are there any sustainable or environmental benefits to autonomous vehicles?

In 2016 Professor David McInnes and Michelle Joy founded Autonomous Transport Solutions, working with leaders of Australian business to provide a wide range of research, education, strategy and implementation of autonomous transport tools, technologies and trends.

Previously David was CEO of Central Gippsland TAFE and Earthwatch and head of Sustainability at Linfox. David was appointed as a Professorial Fellow for the Monash University Sustainability Institute and has a sustainability qualification from Cambridge and Michelle was in management in the TAFE sector and Linfox where she was head of their Organisational Development area Asia Pacific.
