Victoria’s Health System – The Prognosis

Members' Lunch with Prof Stephen Duckett

Hosted by:
Prof Ian Dunn AM

November 14, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

$80.00 – $95.00

Health is shaping up as a key issue in the lead up to the State Election.

The adequacy of our GP services, the stresses on our ambulance services, stories of exhausted professional and support staff in hospitals, diverse promised locations for new hospitals, the need for capital investment versus operational funds, etc and more attract frequent media coverage.

Both major parties are making promises to fix what they see as broken. Are any of these promises going to be effective?

Melbourne Forum member Prof Stephen Duckett knows as much about Victoria’s health system as anyone. Professor Duckett has served as Secretary of the Department of Health (Commonwealth) as well as the Executive with responsibility for Safer Care Victoria, in addition to filling a myriad of academic leadership roles both in Australia and overseas.

He will lead a discussion about the state of our health system, what fixes are really required, what they are likely to cost and who should be taking responsibility.
