The banking royal commission is far from over with the attention now turned to the $2.6 trillion super industry. This examination could only take place if there were imperfections in the current system.

Can there be improvements in the current super system for lower and middle income workers? How about in the gender gap? What are the long term implications of the outcome of the royal commission and are there any benefits to investing superannuation in infrastructure in Melbourne?

David Whiteley is Global Head – External Relations with IFM Investors. He is the recent past Chief Executive of Industry Super Australia (ISA).

ISA advocates on behalf of industry super funds and their six million members. ISA leads the the collective advertising for industry super funds (including “Compare the Pair”), policy development and government and regulatory relations. ISA has been leaders in campaigning for the end of commissions in financial advice, addressing unpaid super and making tax concessions more equitable.

David has previously served as a director at HESTA, a director of STA and an Alternate Director of AustralianSuper and member of the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management committee at AustralianSuper. David has served as a member of the Investment Advisory Board of IFM Investors.
