Is Melbourne’s big build the best way to spend $40bn?

Members' Lunch with Craig Richards

Hosted by:
James Garriock

June 12, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

$80.00 – $95.00

Melbourne’s Big Build addresses one question – congestion. But to what extent have we squandered an opportunity to address some other really big challenges our society faces? The obesity epidemic, social dislocation, the mental health crisis, airborne pollution? Is the Big Build a Big Wasted Opportunity?

Craig Richards is the CEO of Bicycle Network, the world’s third largest bicycle advocacy group. Where some organisations merely run events, BN (formerly Bicycle Victoria) has been actively involved in getting people active and involved for decades. Through signature events like the Great Victorian Bike Ride, Peaks Challenge, Around the Bay in a Day and Ride to work day, BN reaches out and draws people into sustainable transport. Through behind the scenes advocacy and policy assistance, BN makes it easier and safer to stay upright.

If you care about how we’re building our city, this candid conversation is one not to be missed.
