A New Approach in the world of Arts

MF Digital with Kate Fielding

Hosted by:
Professor Emeritus Barbara van Ernst AM

September 16, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Free – $20.00

Following the discussion with Rupert Myer about the central role of the arts in the nation’s recovery from COVID, Kate will speak with us about “A New Approach” (ANA), an independent arts and culture think tank. Kate Fielding has led ANA as CEO since its inception in 2018, drawing together a unique alliance of people across the country in governance, advisory and staffing roles. She presented to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Arts drawing on ANA’s research into what middle Australians really think about the arts. Explaining the data, she said: ‘This cohort, the middle Australia cohort, absolutely think that arts, culture and creativity is an essential part of being Australian; in fact, an essential part of being human.’

Kate was previously the Chair of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission in Kalgoorlie and a member of the Board of the Australia Council for the Arts. She has been the Chair of Regional Arts Australia and of Country Arts WA and was named Under 40 WA Business Leader in 2017.
