“Through providing the contents of a home for a victim/survivor of family violence, so that it is fully equipped, functional and comfortable we aim to provide them with the dignity, respect and feeling of worth so that they can begin to re-build their lives.”

Maxine Gross, Co- Founder and Executive Director of Marketing & Fundraising, You Matter

One of the tragic consequences of the COVID-related lockdowns has been the worsening of the already significant problem of family and domestic violence in our community.

As a Co-Founder of You Matter, Maxine saw the clear and urgent need to help women and families affected by domestic violence in Melbourne.

On returning from overseas in 2019 Maxine went about putting her time, marketing and fundraising skills to work in setting up You Matter with her Co-Founder, Rochelle. Starting out working from their garages, they now have access to several warehouse facilities and a team of employees and volunteers who collect donated furniture and household items. Working with several other agencies You Matter set up havens to support those escaping domestic violence.
