One of Australia’s best-known journalists and authors, Michael Gawenda AM, has a career that spans four decades with roles that included a political reporter, a foreign correspondent based in London and in Washington, a columnist, a feature writer, and a senior editor at Time Magazine.

Michael was editor and editor-in-chief of The Age from 1997 to 2004.

He has won numerous journalism awards, including three Walkley awards. He was the inaugural director of the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne, and is the author of four books.

This informative discussion for members, potential members and guests will challenge our thinking on what is journalism, the role of the reporter, the sector in general and the journalistic impact on popular opinion.
