Should Albo try to bring Julian Assange home?

A Melbourne Forum Debate

Hosted by:
Prof Ian Dunn AM

August 10, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

$80.00 – $95.00

Many in our divergent community have a variety of opinions. Some regard Julian Assange as a hero, a journalist who exposed appalling practices within the intelligence community. Others are concerned that his revelations put many lives at risk and that he deserves to be punished. If so, has he been punished sufficiently? And is it reasonable that he may be facing lengthy imprisonment in a maximum security prison in USA?

Two excellent speakers will commence this discussion after which all attendees will be able to contribute. Elizabeth O’Shea is a Principal Lawyer in Maurice Blackburn and a well credentialed Human Rights advocate who has worked in conjunction with the Assange legal team. She will be challenged by Bruce Hartnett, a long standing Melbourne Forum member who describes himself as a Flaneur, and who has had a distinguished career in our civil society, culminating in his term as Chair of the State Services Authority.

Join us for this lunchtime discussion which promises to be very lively, about a topic which is already challenging our new government.
